چکیده

mon access for diagnostic and interventional procedures. Potential complications of arterial catheterization are hematomas, arteriovenous fistulas (AVF), pseudoaneurysms, arterial occlusions, and peripheral embolization. The reported incidence of all vascular complications ranged from 1% to 9%, and the incidence of AVF varied from 0.006% to 0.86% (1, 2). An iatrogenic AVF is the result of a communication between artery and vein, following the percutaneous puncture of diagnostic or interventional procedures. Manual compression of AVFs by ultrasound has been advocated as an alternative treatment, but may fail in 30% (3). Several alternative treatments for AVFs have been reported in previous studies (4-6). Percutaneous transcatheter embolization with a coil is a minimally invasive alternative to surgery for the lesion, when external manual compression has been unsuccessful. Here we report our experience with two iatrogenic femoral AVFs, which were successfully treated with coil embolization.

Endovascular management of iatrogenic renal arterial lesions and clinical outcomes.

PURPOSE We aimed to evaluate iatrogenic renal arterial lesions, including pseudoaneurysm, arteriovenous fistula, and arteriocaliceal fistula, their management by endovascular embolization, and the clinical results. METHODS Fifty-five patients (forty males, fifteen females) with a median age of 40 years (range, 8-85 years), who underwent endovascular embolization of iatrogenic renal arterial l...

Transvenous embolization as the primary therapy for arteriovenous fistulas of the lateral and sigmoid sinuses.

PURPOSE We report on the evolution in one institution from transarterial embolization for the treatment of dural arteriovenous fistulas of the lateral and sigmoid sinuses to the safer and more durable technique of transvenous endovascular therapy for the majority of these lesions. METHODS Arterial, venous, and combined embolizations were performed for 24 fistulas of the lateral and sigmoid si...

Superselective Arterial Embolization of Pseudoaneurysm and Arteriovenous Fistula Caused by Transurethral Resection of the Prostate

BACKGROUND Pelvic vascular lesions such as pseudoaneurysms and arteriovenous fistulas associated with the internal pudendal artery are uncommon. The most common cause is traumas including those of iatrogenic origin. Surgical treatment is complicated due to location of the lesions and endovascular approach is usually the first choice among the treatment options. CASE REPORT A 79-year-old patie...

Endovascular targeted coil embolization using dual vessel approach for traumatic direct carotid- cavernous fistula following severe head trauma: technical notes

Direct carotid cavernous fistulas (dCCFs) represent different entitles from spontaneous cavernous sinus (CS) dural arteriovenous fistulas (CSAVFs). Traumatic dCCFs are direct arteriovenous communications between the internal carotid artery (ICA) and cavernous sinus, resulting from a traumatic tear of the horizontal or posterior ascending intracavernous segment of the ICA by skull fracture fragm...

Extracranial aneurysm and arteriovenous fistula: embolization with the Guglielmi detachable coil.

PURPOSE To evaluate the feasibility and safety of Guglielmi detachable coils for endovascular treatment of extracranial aneurysm and arteriovenous fistula. MATERIALS AND METHODS Embolization with Guglielmi detachable coils delivered through Tracker-18 microcatheters was performed in 16 patients. This patient group had eight renal artery aneurysms and 11 arteriovenous fistulas (three cases of ...
